The VOICE!!! Predictions already!

Ok - I'm going out on a limb here after the knock out rounds!  Team Adam is going to have Amanda (the Steal from Ceelo) and Melanie Martinez til the end...

Ceelo's going to the final with Trevin - C'mon that kid can BELT one OUT!

Kristina will take De'borah to the end, but she likes Adriana so she'll get dragged as far as Xtina can pull her! (And I really hate it that she calls her self 'x' tina.  D'oh!

Blake has the most well rounded team of good SINGERS this round - but I am guessing sassy Michaela will make it to the finals! I like several of the five he has left though, and won't count him out.

I think that several mistakes were made in the knockout pairings that sent some good ones home this season- they really have to be thinking who can WIN this, not who is unique or cute etc.  Who has the VOICE!

Adam said it best though, that it's about these "moment's" and boy did Amanda have one when she sang Dream On the other night!!!  I see her against Trevin in the final...  Anyone?

Once Upon a Time November 2012

Once Upon a Time with Jack & the Beanstalk this week was ok.  I must admit I'm liking 'Hook' with his guyliner & sexy savvy!  ;)
Things are starting to get pieced together with Emma and how she got pregnant with Henry. But, does anyone get the connection to the boyfriend and August Booth/Pinnochio?  I mean, do you think the boyfriend is related to storybrook or the previous 'land'?  Perhaps he is just separate, from the real world instead.  Here's my question, what happened to August Booth/Pinnochio in Storybrook?  Last we saw, he was turning wooden and then when the 'folks' went to look for him, he wasn't in his room anymore. ? But then this week, they flash back to him helping Emma by getting her away from the thief/boyfriend for some supposed 'fated future', which I get.  I just don't get where his is now... and is he Pinnochio or not?  Mystery for sweeps week I suppose!
Who likes the new meanie Cora over Regina?  I think she's much better at being scary, that's for sure. I wasn't afraid of Regina, just thought she was a bitch!  This Cora is nightmare material no? (Great acting!!!)

Anyone else more into finding out who's who faster? :)

Fringe! November 2012

This last season of Fringe is kinda of freaking me out... if it wasn't the last season, I'd say the jumped the shark already wouldn't you? It is cool that they used old fringe mysteries against the observers about a week ago.  I hope they do some more of that stuff!  I don't want to spoil but... scroll down to avoid spoiler...

I think that somehow, the daughter (Etta) will come back - either through time travel or some other fringe science stuff.  I have a feeling the whole thing will end back in present day with Etta being a baby so they can start their married bliss over.  What freaky things will Peter do with that new tech he put in his brain?  It must be necessary in order to fight the baldee 'observers' though.  Expect him to turn all mean & nasty - Like in Vampire Diaries when Stephen turned off his 'humanity' right?

Is anyone still confused about the Fringe Director 'Broyles' though?  I thought he got swapped out for one of those alternate brainswapping things from the other side!  I don't remember that resolving itself except for the door permenantly closing.  Broyles on the OTHER side was killed trying to help Olivia back...? But this side he was corrupted no?  I loved it when they called the Walter from that side 'Walternate'.  Buahahahaha  Funny!

Hey, maybe they'll come together again to fight off these observer dudes?  What do ya think?

More TV stuff tomorrow - I have several shows to post!

TEOTWAWKI Fiction - Free Online Diary/Novel! #1

Hey Folks - I have to tell you about a free online journal/novel I stumbled upon a while ago that I truly loved!  It's call Adrian's Undead Diary.  It's about this badass ex-military dude who works at a boarding school and ends up having to survive the zombie apocalypse there along with a few other survivors. (he's tough and it's pretty isolated there...)
There's lots of adventure, prepping, creepy horror & humor too! It's not too gorey but enough for those that like that. I ordinarily wouldn't be drawn to zombie fiction because I'm not so much into gore but, I love the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it fiction (TEOTWAWKI as many folks call it) and most zombie fic falls into that category.
I love the TEOTWAWKI genre because I'm fascinated by what people would gather & do to survive -

  • Would they have a survival 'stash' that they prepared in advance - ie like "Preppers" do?
  • What stuff would they buy if the stores were still open? What foods? Water? Weapons too?
  • Would they find a safe place to wait things out? Or be on the run?
  • If they found a safe place, would they work together & build a community?
  • Would there be outlaws & rape gangs and baddies? (of course! A lot of the Humans are usually worse than the Zombies! How would the hero/heroine 'deal' with them?
I love when they 'find' items to help themselves survive such as goodies left over in stores or hidden in abandoned homes. I think that's the most fun for me as I silently (or loudly, depends) cheer for the hero/heroine when they get a good haul of loot. "YESSSSSS!" It's also great when the survivors finally get to take down one of the bullies that usually arises, sometimes gangs of them!

And then, after reading a good TEOTWAWKI book, I usually contemplate whether I should invest in the food storage/emergency supplies that those Preppers do - they are probably the wisest people these days, because I'm thinking something is bound to happen or hit the fan!
All the good stuff is in this novel/online diary-it moves quick, is packed with action, and even makes you laugh!  (Gotta love his 'Operation Snatch' storyline - you'll see! And I might just buy one of those "Team Vagina" sweatshirts...)
It gives some great tips for survival too. The site is free but you have to register, and it's SO worth it.  I have been looking for another that compares and have not found one yet!

Take a leap - I promise, you'll get sucked in and not want to put it down!

3 FREE Post Apocalyptic Fiction Stories

Ready for a FREE Online Novel?  I found a really nice story, actually, there are several stories/novels on this author's blog!  I happen to enjoy post-apocalyptic fiction and there are a lot of stories in this genre. Fortunately, many are free online in the form on blogs or online diaries.  Here are a couple from one author and below you'll find more...

Kathy in Florida has a few stories - here are the one's I've read and recommend. They are well written with minimal issues with grammar. (Some free online blogs have many errors, this author is pretty good at editing her stuff!)
"Fel by the Wayside" is a good one about a teen slave that gets bought & brought to a new village to be married. It's set far in the future, but the people are living like the Renaissance period as almost all 'tech' is gone. Adventure, drama & just enough 'bad guy' characters to make you mad, but not wince.
"The Best Laid Plans of Mice & Men" is about an asteroid hit and what happens in a bunker & harsh climate & weather in the aftermath.
Kathy in FL Blog Stories  Here's her link to the blog for her many stories. I hope she doesn't mind me sharing!

If you like the concept of asteroid or meteor hits, then the better one from A.T. Hagan is:
"We Interrupt This Program" which is a detailed account of surviving an asteroid hit & subsequent tsunami that destroyed several cities and led to food & gas shortages. Farming is a BIG saving grace in this story... Also coming together & setting new laws for society.  Great read!
We Interrupt This Program from A.T. Hagan
Has anyone read these? I have many many others to post - my next session will detail a page full of my favorite post-Apocalypse fiction!

PS - I did read the books from Susan Beth Pfeffer about the Moon moving closer to earth after an asteroid strike, but they were far too depressing! (They were excellent & realistic, I just didn't like the endings is all...)  http://susanbethpfeffer.blogspot.com/

Last Resort TV Show

"The Last Resort" - Recent episode had the female captain taking the sub out on her own while the other two in charge met with the sneaky VP & White House chick on the beach to arrange a possible 'settlement' to turn themselves & the sub 'in'.  I thought the COB (played by Robert Patrick from Terminator) was such a chauvinist ass to her but I had to clap when he changed his tune at the end. Did anyone else get chills when he suddenly shouted 'Captain on Deck!' to the sailors when she came down the corridor?  This is because she handled herself like a badass during the sub attack & subsequent maneuvers including leaving a Seal Diver behind to possibly die. She knew the ship & onboard personnel outweighed one diver's life.  She smiled a little smugly though... She did not know that her father, the decorated General, came with the VP and that he bought her time by shooting the VP just as orders to sink her sub were about to be given!  (Damn! Can you blame the General for shooting that bastard?)  I laughed when she asked the smartass COB after he made a degrading comment "How did you stay married?" and he replied "Always out to sea" or something like that. It was such a quick comment & comeback that it lifted the tension between them. Good writing this show...

I was pleasantly suprised to see the inventor girl back in the states sneak into Blond chickie's House (Wife of 2nd in Command) in the middle of the night to help her uncover the corruption.  When Blondie quickly offered her tea instead of shooting her as an intruder I bet she thought 'You had me at "I'll help you expose the lies". lol More on those two below:

This whole show, if you're not familiar, (it has only been out a few weeks so you could conceivably catch up on hulu or ABC) is about a submarine that gets a strange order to fire nukes at Pakistan. Only the two that must turn the keys to do this suddenly question their orders because they came through a very weird channel, not their usual & customary channel. (Out of Antarctica instead of Pentagon?) It is so odd to them, that the question the orders, which is apparently a HUGE NO NO, as many on the sub fear.  Once they question the order, and do not fire, they are fired UPON by another US Sub!!!  Oh, I forgot to mention that before this order, the sub picked up a few suspicious-acting Navy Seals who happened to be floating in the ocean off the coast. At least one was injured & died, but they would not explain what happened.  Anyone get what they might have been up to?

The sub avoids the missile sent for them and ends up taking up residence in a bay off an island. In order to survive, they have to resort (the Last Resort) to threatening the Dept of Defense with a missile to the U.S. coast. (It doesn't injure anyone) The ships & subs that came after them must remain at 200 or so miles off the coast of said island or the sub says it will nuke a U.S. city. By the way, there's a nasty druglord that thinks he 'owns' the island. He captures & holds a few sailors hostage and ends up killing one even after negotiating with the Captain for an exchange. That Bastard will be trouble in upcoming episodes if they don't cap his a$$.

The inventor of special tech on the sub is a Father/daughter team, the daughter being a feisty little minx who has some secret disk drive that enabled her to track that sub. The drive gets stolen, but not before she discovers that the sub is involved in a troublesome cover-up and the men aboard are innocent. This includes the husband of 'blondie'. She has to break into Blondie's house in the middle of the night to sneak past the media camped outside, as they think her hubby is a traitor. I think inventor girl and Blondie are going to find some great dirt on this whole thing, but they'll have us wait at least a dozen episodes!!!
OK so I did not have names & titles listed well in this, my first comment page. Going forward, I will do much better!  What I hope is that some of you have noticed nuances of this show that we can 'catch' and discuss here. I'll be back to post about upcoming episodes of this and others!
Anyone have an idea of what the sneaky VP / President could be up to on this show? Or if the 2nd in command is going to 'hook up' with the scientist on the island?  ;)

Welcome to Sofatato Central - Escape w/TV or a Book Today & Again!

Welcome to Sofatato Central!  This blog is meant for several kinds of people - from the Couch Potato (a 'Sofatato' like myself), Chronic Pain Sufferers (also like myself) and for those who just love drama & adventure found on screen and in fictional books & stories. (Again, like myself!).  I have found that reading or watching engaging stories can transport me away from my often silent suffering to another world, even if just for a while.  I LOVE great stories & shows and I know there are many others who do as well. I also love finding new sources for stories - especially free sources like online weblog novels & free books!  Here I will be posting on many shows & books for you to possibly dive into yourself.  Also, I'll be commenting on shows I've watched because I often yell or cry at the screen, just like many of you!  Read here after those shows to see if my thoughts & feelings were similar to yours.  It will be like we are having a weekly party to watch our favorite shows!
Please come back often, as I'm just getting started - hopefully there will be lots of content and comments every time you return.  Please let me know what you think!

Enjoy & Reply!
